My Journey so far

I have been educated and trained in both China and the US. I enrolled at East China University of Political Science and Law, where I pursued my undergraduate studies in international law. Later, I earned my Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt Law School in the United States.

During my time at Vanderbilt, I had the opportunity to clerk at the Vanderbilt Intellectual Property and the Arts Clinic, where my passion for intellectual property law was ignited. Immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of Nashville, a city known for its vibrant music scene and thriving entertainment industry, I witnessed firsthand the intersection of creativity and legal protection.

After graduation, I embarked on a career as an IP attorney. Over the years, I honed my expertise by working at prominent Chinese and US law firms. I also assumed the role of Asia IP head at General Motors for several years, where I helped to safeguard GM’s IP assets and also maximize the IP value by managing several IP licensing programs and deals.

After dedicating many years to the practice of IP law which I still love and do on a daily basis, I felt a compelling desire to explore new avenues that would allow me to leverage my legal expertise in a more strategic and entrepreneurial manner.

This led me to venture into IP-related business endeavors, such as IP strategy consulting, IP licensing/transfer brokerage, and IP evaluation. I discovered that the world of intellectual property not only represents legal protection but also serves as a gateway to innovation, design, and endless possibilities. My fascination with all forms of creativity and technology, alongside my expertise in IP, spurred my curiosity to delve into various designs and technological advancements.

In the meantime, I use my coding skills to make websites for myself and occasionally for some clients who trust me to do it. Currently, I have built an ecommerce site (koku.co) and am still developing several more.

In addition to my professional pursuits, I am a polyglot and find great joy in exploring different languages and their cultural nuances. I am continuously perfecting English and French, and in the mean time acquiring Spanish and Japanese.

On a personal note, I grew up in a small town in Shaoxing which a rich cultural heritage. While my home base is primarily in Shanghai, the cosmopolitan hub of China, I enjoy embarking on occasional travels with my family to other parts of the world.

Through this website, I aspire to share my experiences, insights, and passions with others on law, business, technology, design, language and much more.
